February Vacation 2006

Here's some of the photos taken while on vacation in Maine. As always, if you want a print quality copy of a photo, please e-mail me.

Friday night I packed my bags in front of my dog, Rocket, and I think we were both stressed out about it. I flew Jet Blue out of Denver at 1am Saturday morning 2/11 arriving at JFK at roughly 6:20am. The flight to Burlington, VT was uneventful and Dad picked me up around 11am and we drove to Stetson, ME.

Sunday we bought fishing licenses and headed out to our camp on 1st Lake Old Stream near Machias, ME. The camp has changed a lot since I was last here in 1985. The camp has been refurbished and is beautiful. The lake was clear for a very short while as a noreaster was coming in. I got on my skates and skated the lake for a short while. We attempted to set traps, but the wind and snow got too strong so we packed it in. The noreaster dropped record snow on NYC, but we only got roughly 6 inches.

Monday was an incredibly beautiful day. We caught roughly 20 pickerel and 1 large white perch this day.

Tuesday was a bit overcast, but still a nice day. We caught roughly 20 pickerel, one yellow perch, 2 large splake, and 2 large white perch. I even got a photo of a bald eagle this day.

On Friday we had dinner with the Laplants. The power went out before dinner was done cooking. The power did not return that night. Luckily they have a wood stove which I used as lighting for the last photo.

Sunday morning the 19th I returned to a happy and healthy dog that allowed me to sleep from 4am to 6am at which time he informed me it was time to get up and appease him.
